Meen Kolambu / Fish curry

Fish curry

Ingredients:-

Fish – 7-8 pieces

Onion – ½ cup

Tamarind – Big lemon size

Garlic – ¼ cup

Red chili powder – 3 tsp

Tumeric powder – ½ tsp

Curry leaves – 10-12

Coconut – ¼ cup

Oil – 3 tsp

Salt – to taste         

For Seasoning:-

Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp

Fenugreel seeds – ¼ tsp

Method:-                                                                                                                                                                 fish

Clean the fish and apply turmeric powder and little salt and rub into the fish and keep aside for 5 mins.

 Wash the piece again and keep aside. Grind the coconut and keep aside. Soak tamarind for 5 mins and then squeeze the juice and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and allow it to splutter. Once it is done add onions, garlic and curry leaves and fry till onions turns into translucent. Then add tumeric powder, red chili powder, salt and fry for few minutes.  Add the tamarind juice, coconut paste and bring it to boil. Fish

Let this simmer for 15 mins or till the raw smell goes. Finally add the fish pieces, cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
