Tomato Chutney – 1

There are different varieties of chutneys’ and many of us use different ingredients to make it taste. Here is my recipe for tomato chutney.



Tomato – 1

Coconut – ¼ cup

Fried gram dal – 3 Tsp

Garlic – 1 (small piece)

Fennel seeds – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Salt – to taste

Oil – 1 tsp



Cut tomato into small pieces and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and once it is heated up add fennel seeds and garlic. Once it is done add tomato and turmeric powder and fry till the raw smell goes. Then allow this mixture to cool down.


Meanwhile grind coconut, fried gram dal and salt. Once the tomato mixture cools down add to the coconut mixture and grind well.


If you need, you can add channa dal, urad dal and mustard seeds for tampering.
