Red chilies – 2

Green chilies – 2

Cinnamon – 1’inch stick

Cloves – 1

Jeera – ½ tsp

Garlic flakes – 4 finely chopped

Onion – 1

Tomato – 1

Chili powder – 1 tsp

Coriander powder – 1 ½ tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

Soak the channa dal for 2 hrs. Grind the soaked dal with salt and red chilies by adding very little water and make a coarse paste. Make small balls from the grounded paste and fry till it turns into golden brown. Keep them aside and heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon, cloves and jeera and fry for few minutes and then add garlic, onion, green chilies and tomato (one by one) and fry till tomato turns into soft. Then add chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, gram masala, salt and fried vadais. Mix this mixture for 2 minutes and then add 1 cup of water and close with a lid and cook it for 5 mins. Once it is done mash it with potato masher and finely garnish it with coriander leaves.

Note: – Water can add how think you need your gravy. If you need dry gravy you can fry for more minutes.
