Tamarind Rice

Ingredients:-
Tamarind – small lemon size
Rice – 1 cup
Channa dal – ¾ tsp
Urad dal – ¾ tsp
Mustard rice – 1 tsp
Peanut – a handful
Red chilies – 10
Small onion – 10
Garlic – 12
Fenugreek powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp (optional)
Sesame oil – 3-4 tsp
Salt – to taste
Method:-
Soak the tamarind in a hot water for 5 mins and squeeze out the water and keep aside. Cook the rice and keep it aside. Heat oil in a pan and once it is heated up add channa dal, urad dal and mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter and add red chilies and fry for 2 minutes and then add peanut and fry for few minutes. Once it is done add onion and fry till it turns translucent. Then add garlic, turmeric powder and fry for few minutes and then
add tamarind water, salt. Allow the tamarind juice to boil and comes to thick, finally add fenugreek powder and mix this mixture to the cooked rice and mix it well.
Note: – You can add curry leaves. Allow the tamarind juice to a thick consistency or else it won’t give you the taste.
